Lincoln and His World by Richard Lawrence Miller

Historic Site Closings Delayed Until Oct. 15th
Wednesday, September 17th, 2008Springfield’s State Journal-Register has an update on the budget cuts to the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency:
Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s administration said Tuesday it is delaying closures of two dozen state parks and historic sites, blaming unforeseen snags involving employees affected by the closures for the extended timeline.

Historic Sites Take a Hit; Protestors Hit Back
Monday, September 15th, 2008The State Journal-Register is reporting that protestors were outside the Governor’s Mansion in Springfield on Saturday, voicing their outrage over Governor Rod Blagojevich’s $2.8 million cut to the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency budget.
Blagojevich’s cuts have resulted in layoffs, drastically reduced hours, and the closure of a dozen historic sites throughout Illinois.
