Jonesboro Fundraiser
By Samuel P. Wheeler | February 14, 2007
The folks in Anna-Jonesboro, Illinois are holding a fundraiser to raise money for a total redesign of the Third Lincoln-Douglas debate site in Jonesboro. The kick off fundraiser will be held Friday, February 16, 2007 at the Great Boars of Fire Lodge on Kratzinger Hollow Road in Anna, IL. Doors open at 6:00, dinner begins at 7, followed by a small talk by yours truly. Tickets are $25.
By the 150th anniversary of the debates in September 2008, the redesigned site will include interpreative signs and two life-sized statues of Abraham Lincoln and Stephen A. Douglas. This is an ambitious undertaking. Not only will it take the hard work of community members, but they are also in need of donations. If you would like to donate to the cause, please contact Duane or Linda Hileman at hileman1@midwest.net
