About Me
Samuel P. Wheeler received the Doctorate of Philosophy in Historical Studies from Southern Illinois University in 2008. His research, writing, and speaking interests include the life of Abraham Lincoln and the American Civil War Era.
In addition to being the creator and editor of LincolnStudies.com, he was an award-winning teacher in the history department at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, where he taught survey courses on The Origins of America, Modern America, and Illinois History, as well as advanced seminars on the Civil War Era and Historical Research and Writing.
Currently, he is a researcher with the Papers of Abraham Lincoln, an ambitious documentary editing project based in Springfield, Illinois, that is producing a comprehensive electronic edition of Lincoln’s incoming and outgoing correspondence.
Dr. Wheeler is working on a book-length manuscript entitled, Every Spot a Grave: The Poetry of Abraham Lincoln.
